The Life of the Naturally Irrational

“It is a widely accepted fact that cannabis (…and other great hallucinogens) have been linked numerous times to allowing people everywhere; from writers, to artists, and even amongst the most advent doodlers as being a smooth gateway to better and more insightful pieces of art. So take your brush of choice and blow some minds… this is Stoner Art.” ——–> Are you an artist? If so, send your pieces to Dignan

Naturally Irrational 9 - The Blinding Light on a Winding Path

Upon browsing one of the more recent collections of psychedelia inspired art on the subreddit, Baked Art, I stumbled across today’s submission (featured above) in Stoner Art by the artist under the alias, Naturally Irrational. Personally, I have entitled this illustration, “A Blinding Light on a Winding Path,” as I feel it sets the scene for the artist’s entire album, The Life of the Naturally Irrational. A shadowy blue figure, perhaps an autobiographic projection of the artist himself, stands facing the threshold of a winding green and white checkerboard walkway, which contorts and tangles around itself, finally dissipating into an indescribable and unforeseen alternate universe. From the distance, a blinding yellow light emanates from the end of the mysterious pathway piercing the face of the specter, who is drawn into the eerie emission like a tractor beam. The drawing has a sense of weightlessness, though the cylindrical setting gives the sketch motion, especially as the edges of the path express intensity through the utilization of heavy, dark directional strokes. For me, the light represents each of our unique hopes, dreams, and aspirations that can only be obtained through persistence in endeavors, resilience against distractions, and excellence in production. In a similar manner to the nameless figure, who takes the first step toward their destiny in this fortuitous journey known as life, we do not know if our fate is enlightenment, depravity, or some grey region in between. However, we cannot sit idly by as others venture down that winding path without us. We can be afraid no longer. We must act, for if not now, then when?

One High Pilot

“It is a widely accepted fact that cannabis (…and other great hallucinogens) have been linked numerous times to allowing people everywhere; from writers, to artists, and even amongst the most advent doodlers as being a smooth gateway to better and more insightful pieces of art. So take your brush of choice and blow some minds… this is Stoner Art.”

armandingo high pilot

Today’s submission of Stoner Art on Stoner Schematics comes from a contributor to the subreddit, Baked Art, by the name of Armandingo. The high pilot above first caught my eyes as I gazed upon the assortment of artistic pieces cataloged by Armandingo. Remaining in black and white, the sketch utilizes slight variations in shadowing and highlighting to mimic the hazy smoke escaping the cannabis consuming converted respirator. Like the smoke, the portrait leaps off the page due to the selective use of diagonal strokes on the back of the pilot’s chair leading the observer’s eye frantically down to the pilot’s intricately carved jumpsuit featuring crosshatching to center the viewer’s attention. The pilot appears to be perched in the middle of a deep trance, concentrating on the task at hand as he takes a long draw with the same intensity he brings to breaking the sound barrier, enduring high-g turns, and withstanding heavy fire without resorting to pulling the handle to eject, all while saving an aftermath pack of smokes and a stash of sweet cheeba. No, this pilot did not fantasize about being called “Maverick” to fulfill some childhood silver screen delusion; rather, he became a pilot to experience the moment when time stops, when life and death becomes inconsequential, the terrifying sacrifice of trading bipedalism for flight.

“Why make a category for everything? The world lives on the brink of destruction, people are as apathetic as ever, and chronological whimsical forms of the structure are the things that are keeping us down. Fuck the system, Fuck the structure, and BY GOD here at Stoner Schematics we say FUCK Categories (…sometimes).”

far out smoke rings

Have you ever been without bud, scrounging for some slight hint of skunk in a baggie that is clearly empty? I have, but usually we resort to piling up our pieces, cleaning them out, and (whether it is healthy or not) scorching resin hits. It is not the smoothest, it takes a shit ton of effort to gather, and it burns quickly with a marginal high. In my opinion, resin is the tool of the necessitous Stoner. I bring this reference because I find this website to be in a situation that I would consider to be reflective of Resin Hits. Pistachio is no longer a regular writer for us, and recently my computer’s motherboard stopped functioning (it is broken). So what am I to do? Should I just pack up and quit? No. I am going to regather all of the resin that I have, clean up the innards of the fragile glass piece that is Stoner Schematics, and then I will be packing up the largest selection of ganja from my most secretive stash. In short, give me a moment, I need to re-up.
